At Latitude, we have a strong habit of listening to players's feedback; sometimes it’s about bugs, other times about new features, but this time it’s about how to instruct AI models.
We've got something exciting in preparation that puts our community right at the center of improving AI Dungeon. A way to transform AI instruction feedback into a better experience for everyone on AI Dungeon.
It started simple, we noticed some community-shared instruction sets that seemed to handle storytelling twists and character depth with a flair our standard ones weren't quite matching. Curious, we ran a few quiet A/B tests on the Dynamic Small model. And some of those player-created sets proved themselves better than our defaults—sometimes by making adventures feel more immersive, other times by improving consistency in wild scenarios. For us, it was a clear sign, if players were able to write better instructions than the default one, then we needed to put them to the test and refine our approach by adopting what’s working.
So, here's the plan: We're starting off monthly A/B tests focused on Dynamic Small, where we'll test top community instruction sets against our current defaults. If a submission outperforms—and we've seen it happen—we'll adopt it as the new default to level up the experience for everyone. In the spirit of Dynamic models, we want to keep things model-agnostic, so think broad. Share sets that could work across different AIs, emphasizing fresh ways to guide adventures without getting too tied to specifics.
To make this easy, head over to the AI Instructions forum on our Discord server and share your instructions, it’s as simple as that! We'll review them regularly and proceed with our A/B testing process, comparing them to our current default instructions. And for those whose sets make the cut? We'll be sure to reward the effort of improving AI Dungeon for every player!
This is all about building on what you create, and we're really curious to see where it goes. It might even expand to models like Dynamic Large down the line, but for now, let's improve Dynamic Small together and create general purpose instructions. Join our Discord server to share and collaborate on AI instructions!
